A Busy Saturday

Today we were busy doing errands and our grocery shopping. It was one of those crazy days where no matter how organized you think you are , your not!

Later we unpacked everything, and grabbed some lunch before sitting down to watch a movie. It was really nice spending some quality time together.

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.” – Kahlil Gibran

“Your daily life is your temple and your religion. When you enter into it take with you your all.” – Kahlil Gibran

Crocus Flowers

“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not”.
– Georgia O’Keeffe

I worked on the Kuan Yin painting this afternoon, laying in some more layers of color and developing the golden bamboo leaves.

Later I decided to prepare another canvas and set it aside to dry. Then I looked out my studio window and noticed rain clouds moving towards us. Ah, such is life…

A Day In The Garden

I spent the day in the garden raking, clipping back the hedges, and clearing out more tree limbs. Whew! What a job that turned out to be!

All I want to do right now is take a shower, fall into bed and sleep. I had planned on catching up on some reading, but its nighty- nite for me.

In The Garden

“In my garden there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful”. ~Abram L. Urban

Ode To February

The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tints the buds and swells the leaves within.”
– William C. Bryant

“I stood beside a hill
Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
From the cold evening glow.
There was not other creature
That saw what I could see,
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me.”

– Sara Teasdale, February Twilight

Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. Henry David Thoreau

Serenity

I find serenity and peace of mind on my daily walks as I observe people and things in nature that catch my eye.

Often I bring my sketch book or camera just in case I find something that may give inspiration for later paintings and also bring back happy memories.

Sometimes all we need is a little extra inspiration and imagination to help keep the creative juices flowing, and my daily walk seems to do the trick for me.

In The Garden

I spent most of the day cleaning up our garden, removing fallen tree limbs, raking up dead leaves, and emptying water out of the bird bath.

Afterwards I was so tired I needed to rest for awhile, so I decided to take some time to sit and relax in our garden, it was so peaceful and calming as the warmth of the sun soothed my tired achy body.

Lost And Found Files

As mentioned in prior posts, I have been organizing, clearing out and making backup copies of my files. Yesterday, I found all kinds of painting files in folders I had managed to hide from myself.

Paintings, sketches, photographs, and collages I found lacking in some way or another, yet after a couple of years have passed, I find myself looking at them with fresh eyes.

They were lost and now found, below are a couple in various stages of development.
