About Rose

Rose Arizmendi – an American artist living in Northern California with her husband and their dog Rupert.

Through out the years I have continued working in many areas of art including painting, sculpting, collage, mixed media, ceramics, photography and jewelry making.

As an introduction, I work using a wide variety of materials, from acrylics, watercolors, pastels to oils but much of my work is hand-painted digitally using a Wacom pen, tablet and Corel Painter. Most of the digital paintings are created by applying coats of digital paint on successive layers, and in the end merging all the layers onto the background.

The Awakening

My fascination with multi-cultural traditions, spirituality, legends, fairy tales, and myth have developed into a personal mythology, constantly evolving and expressed through my art . The writing of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, Marija Gimbutas, Clarissa Pinkola-Estes have also influenced my work as I explore archetypes, dreams and my life experiences.
