The inspiration for this work came to me while listening to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sequoiarecords.com\/111.php\" target=\"_blank\">CD<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.songhealer.net\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Sophia<\/a>. I was listening to her sing &#8216;Gaia Shekhinah Nama Om&#8217; at the time.<\/p>\n<p>I kept playing the CD over and over again and as the music flowed over and through me, I created this painting. I sculpted the mask\u00a0 and the feathers out of paper mache,\u00a0 plaster and heavy acrylic medium.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-787\" title=\"Shekhinah\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/sophia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"273\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/sophia.jpg 273w, https:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/sophia-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 273px) 100vw, 273px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lady of the Sacred Spirals<\/strong> &#8211; Mixed Media &#8211; 22 X 28 inches on canvas<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0b2382;\">In Judaism, Chokhmah appears alongside the Shekhinah, &#8216;the glory of God&#8217;, a figure who plays a key role in the cosmology of the Kabbalists as an expression of the feminine aspect of God.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This afternoon I worked on a mixed media piece which has been hanging around for awhile waiting for me to finish it.
