{"id":326,"date":"2008-07-05T21:08:33","date_gmt":"2008-07-06T05:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/?p=326"},"modified":"2010-03-25T12:26:58","modified_gmt":"2010-03-25T20:26:58","slug":"musings-for-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/05\/musings-for-the-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Musings For The Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a very hot and lazy summer day, and I spent most of it doing some research on Celtic Folklore, and lazing around in a comfy chair reading some great poetry.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great 4th of July weekend!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-327\" title=\"stoneofdestiny\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/stoneofdestiny.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"149\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/stoneofdestiny.jpg 149w, https:\/\/www.rosearizmendi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/stoneofdestiny-99x300.jpg 99w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 149px) 100vw, 149px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stone Of Destiny &#8211;<\/strong> Combined Media<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">CONVERSATION WITH A STONE<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I knock at the stone&#8217;s front  door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only me, let me come in.<br \/>\nI want to enter your insides,<br \/>\nhave  a look round,<br \/>\nbreathe my fill of you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Go away,&#8221; says the  stone.<br \/>\n&#8220;I&#8217;m shut tight.<br \/>\nEven if you break me to pieces,<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ll all still  be closed.<br \/>\nYou can grind us to sand,<br \/>\nwe still won&#8217;t let you in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I  knock at the stone&#8217;s front door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only me, let me come in.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve come  out of pure curiosity.<br \/>\nOnly life can quench it.<br \/>\nI mean to stroll through  your palace,<br \/>\nthen go calling on a leaf, a drop of water.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t have much  time.<br \/>\nMy mortality should touch you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m made of stone,&#8221; says the  stone,<br \/>\n&#8220;and must therefore keep a straight face.<br \/>\nGo away.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t have  the muscles to laugh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I knock at the stone&#8217;s front door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only  me, let me come in.<br \/>\nI hear you have great empty halls inside you,<br \/>\nunseen,  their beauty in vain,<br \/>\nsoundless, not echoing anyone&#8217;s steps.<br \/>\nAdmit you  don&#8217;t know them well yourself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Great and empty, true enough,&#8221; says the  stone,<br \/>\n&#8220;but there isn&#8217;t any room.<br \/>\nBeautiful, perhaps, but not to the  taste<br \/>\nof your poor senses.<br \/>\nYou may get to know me, but you&#8217;ll never know  me through.<br \/>\nMy whole surface is turned toward you,<br \/>\nall my insides turned  away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I knock at the stone&#8217;s front door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only me, let me come  in.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t seek refuge for eternity.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m not unhappy.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m not  homeless.<br \/>\nMy world is worth returning to.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll enter and exit  empty-handed.<br \/>\nAnd my proof I was there<br \/>\nwill be only words,<br \/>\nwhich no one  will believe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You shall not enter,&#8221; says the stone.<br \/>\n&#8220;You lack the  sense of taking part.<br \/>\nNo other sense can make up for your missing sense of  taking part.<br \/>\nEven sight heightened to become all-seeing<br \/>\nwill do you no  good without a sense of taking part.<br \/>\nYou shall not enter, you have only a  sense of what that sense should be,<br \/>\nonly its seed, imagination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I  knock at the stone&#8217;s front door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only me, let me come in.<br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t  got two thousand centuries,<br \/>\nso let me come under your roof.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you  don&#8217;t believe me,&#8221; says the stone,<br \/>\n&#8220;just ask the leaf, it will tell you the  same.<br \/>\nAsk a drop of water, it will say what the leaf has said.<br \/>\nAnd ,  finally, ask a hair from your own head.<br \/>\nI am bursting with laughter, yes,  laughter, vast laughter,<br \/>\nalthough I don&#8217;t know how to laugh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I knock  at the stone&#8217;s front door.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s only me, let me come in.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;I don&#8217;t have a  door,&#8221; says the stone.<\/p>\n<p>-Wislawa Szymborska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a very hot and lazy summer day, and I spent most of it doing some research on Celtic Folklore, and lazing around in a comfy chair reading some great poetry.
