Last night I dreamed of a Jack Rabbit sitting in a freshly plowed field.

In the east, a full moon hung over the countryside, and I could see the dark silhouette of trees in the distance as coyotes howled at the moon. The dream was oddly comforting because it reminded me of my childhood in Texas.

I did a few preliminary drawings to attempt to capture the essence of the rabbit and I finally settled on the one below. Now, I definitely need to work some more on the rabbit and the background. I’ve got miles to go … But…it’s a start.

“The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul, which opens to that primeval cosmic night that was soul long before there was conscious ego and will be soul far beyond what a conscious ego could ever reach.”

Today I added the finishing touches to the second I Ching piece I have been working on. I reworked some areas and added beach glass to the hair. I also added an old Chinese coin and finished off with a flower shaped abalone shell.

I found the abalone shell flower at the Gem Show. It was the only one which had a butterfly shape in the center and I thought it would be perfect for the hair. There’s not much left to do … but varnish the canvas. Yea!

This was a very busy day in the studio, yet I did manage to work on the other I Ching collage today. I added more layers and collage elements.

Later I tried taking a photo of what I’ve done so far but this was the only one that was in focus. For some reason the face and hair area is washed out and the contrast isn’t that great.

I’m just too tired to try again! Tomorrow I will be working on the Tui hexagram area and adding more layers of color.
