Friday

I spent this evening working on this digital collage. For the background I used an image that I created a while back and added some detail with ink and pastels.
Next I digitally enhanced the image of an angel statue and layered pastel and ink details over three separate images and then merged them together. This [...]

Shekhinah

This afternoon I worked on a mixed media piece which has been hanging around for awhile waiting for me to finish it. The inspiration for this work came to me while listening to a CD by Sophia. I was listening to her sing ‘Gaia Shekhinah Nama Om’ at the time.
I kept playing the CD over [...]

Autumn Offerings

I found this old digital collage I did in the fall of 2005 when I was in the process of learning how to make my own digital backgrounds etc…
I had forgotten how much fun these were to make. I created the background by layering rice  paper, golden acrylics with mica chips and then scanned the [...]

Almost Finished

Today I added the finishing touches to the second I Ching piece I have been working on. I reworked some areas and added beach glass to the hair. I also added an old Chinese coin and finished off with a flower shaped abalone shell.
I found the abalone shell flower at the Gem Show. It was [...]

Crows & Baubles

While I was in the garden this morning I noticed that some of the shiny baubles I had placed in a container were missing. It’s not the first time this has happened and the culprit is usually a crow.
Later when I went to take the garbage out, there was a crow with his “beak in [...]

Wednesday

This was a very busy day in the studio, yet I did manage to work on the other I Ching collage today. I  added more layers and collage elements.
Later I tried taking a photo of what I’ve done so far but this was the only one that was in focus. For some reason the face [...]

I Ching Collage

The I Ching collage is finished. I had fun experimenting with attaching watercolor paper to the canvas and finally figured out that hard molding paste was the best choice for me.
I painted the Kuan Yin portrait and the sun on Fabriano  Watercolor paper. The I Ching hexagram Tai was created on rice paper. For more [...]

In The Studio

It’s another day in the studio and I am working on a new collage/painting. For the theme of this painting I chose the I Ching hexagram Tui which represents happiness, joy, success, and good fortune.
The trigram Tui also denotes the youngest daughter and is symbolized by the smiling lake which is associated with freshwater in [...]

Collage

What a beautiful morning! The sun is out … the air is crisp, and from my studio window I watch people hurrying along the sidewalk,  listening to the sound of  fallen leaves crunching beneath their feet.
With coffee cup in hand I begin prepping canvases by laying down a coat of gesso.
While the canvases dry I [...]

Busy Monday

It’s been one of those days where there’s so many ideas buzzing around in my head and just too many other distractions going on to really focus on them.
Hopefully I will have a chance to work on some of these tomorrow.
