Work In Progress

Today I was able to work on the altered book cover from a previous post. I started by painting and collaging some art paper, tree bark, and attached a porcelain head to the book cover.
One thing led to another and the piece started taking on a life of it’s own. Although it is not [...]

Painting all Day

This morning I awoke to the sound of the soft cooing of the mourning dove. Such a sweet, yet mournful voice, a sound to stir one’s soul. I finally got up and grabbed a cup of coffee and began my day.
I started painting and sketching, and after much deliberation of which of the swan sketches [...]

The Swan Maiden

I have been working on this painting since February of this year. The inspiration for this piece came from reading the novel “Daughter of the Forest” by Juliet Marillier. She is a very gifted writer and folklorist. This beautiful retelling of the traditional seven swans fairy tale set in ancient Ireland, sent me on [...]

Life is a Journey

Life is a Journey, and the experience of being immobile for a few days, really makes one appreciate the little things we take for granted everyday. It taught me patience with my own body, something that can be very difficult to do these days, with everything needing to be done yesterday.
I feel so [...]

Threw my Back Out

Last week, I was working in the garden and somehow threw my back out. It started with a backache, and ended up with me sitting in the emergency room on Saturday. After being examined and prescribed pain pills and a muscle relaxant, I came home and went to bed.
So here I sit on my chair [...]
